City of St. Catharines
St. Catharines is the urban centre of the Niagara Region, and is rich with arts, heritage and enthnocultural diversity. Culture and heritage events, experiences, and opportunities are integral to our community’s identity and vitality.
“The Garden City” boasts 1,000 acres of beautiful parks, gardens and trails. St. Catharines was a final destination of the Underground Railroad, linked with famed conductor Harriet Tubman, and is the birth place of the zipper. In St. Catharines you can marvel as ships travel between the Great Lakes at the Welland Canals Centre (home of the St. Catharines Museum and Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame) or visit one of the country’s first artist run centres, the Niagara Artist Centre. As we like to say, it’s all IN St. CatharINes!
