The Joe Lapinski Band presents “A Sum Of Its Parts” | IN THE SOIL FESTIVAL
The Joe Lapinski Band presents “A Sum Of Its Parts”
Music inspired by St. Catharines communities - past and present
In the Soil Arts Festival - Performed for the first time!
Saturday 8 June, 7pm - Odd Fellows Temple, 36 James Street, St. Catharines
Joe Lapinski is proud to be launching a suite of new music, inspired by stories gathered about communities who have helped to make St. Catharines what it is. Starting in 2015, Joe has interviewed several members of various communities to hear their stories. First Nations, agriculture, manufacturing industry, arts, and education. Joe took these recorded interviews, and has composed a suite of music that translates the words, emotions, stories, into a musical journey made from the layers that represent the communities.
Partially contemporary, partially experimental, and partially storytelling, this performance is unique and like no other. Joe and his band will use instruments and voices to represent members of the aforementioned communities. These communities are then performed as separate layers, then combined to form one piece of music: “A Sum Of Its Parts”.
Joe’s band consists of Dave Clark / drums, Laurel Minnes / voice, Dr. Pee / piano, Jordan Phelan / bass, and Phil Davis / water drum.
This project is generously supported by the St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program (SCCIP).
