Exhibition & Opening: Conor Mac Neill: Canadian Myths and Legends

Conor Mac Neill exhibit entitled Canadian Myths and Legends exhibit will be on display at the Pumphouse gallery from November 1-30, 2018. Please join us on Friday, November 2 from 7-9 pm as we celebrate the opening of of the exhibit. Everyone is welcome.

The exhibit consists of 2 small collections; one that explores Canadian myths and legends on a national level, and a second that explores Canadian myths and legends on a regional level looking specifically at Niagara-on-the-Lake.  The national level collection explores cryptids and quirky creatures rumored to inhabit the Canadian wilderness and landscape. The regional collection consist of a series of portraits exploring some of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s most infamous characters. This project was done in collaboration with the Niagara Historical Society, with the intent of exploring some of the town’s most colorful legends, many of whose stories are largely unknown.

In addition to MacNeill’s detailed paintings, he includes works by his 4-year-old son, Declan, who interprets the same myths and characters in a more primitive style, which highlights the point that there can be many interpretations to these legends.
